You may totally support civil unions, but if you say yes to gay marriage, then, be prepared to say yes to all of the above too. First, the argument for civil unions was for taxation, insurance and inheritance- OK; but after civil unions were agreed, the agenda changed, then, the "cause" was marriage. Make no mistake, if you bend over for gay marriage then be prepared to deal with all the rest of the demands, the agenda will just move to the next item, it will never, ever stop. Yes to all?

How about supporting EQUAL and the same rights for all.
How about getting rid of "special" rights, treatment, and protections for everyone while we're at it.
Most of the gay couples I know (they tend to be in thier late 30's and older) have some of the most stable relationships I've encountered, would make great parents, etc.
While we're at it, with all these special rights, support, etc. being handed out, it seems like middle aged white guys like me with kids are loosing out to everybody else.
You should have seen the crap I went through as a single parent in the job market, and with support groups (they're either religion based or for women who hate men). Similar stories with govt. programs (support women more equally than guys).
Why does every gay marriage question have a "slippery slope" addendum, like if you support the right of people to get married if they want to, you also support bestiality, "special rights" and a monument to gay-dom in every town?

Also, parents should have the right to decide who will take in their children if they die, and their gay brother or sister shouldn't be excluded from that choice if they wish him or her to be the childrens' guardian.

I just think we should all live and let live. It's a waste of time to try to deny rights from any group of people for any reason. Gays should have the right to marry. They should have the right to adopt if they are fit to be parents. Since being gay is not a choice, there is no need to teach them whether they should be gay or straight. There's no need to have a federal gay holiday, although, if it was a paid day off, I'm sure most people would be happy to celebrate it. Yes. Homosexuals have the same ability (and inability) to parent as heterosexuals. Gay people are often raised by straight people, and vice versa - so it's not like having two gay daddy's will turn a kid gay.
