If you become someone's legal health care proxy, are you accountable financially for their bills?

If you become someone's legal health care proxy, can you be held financially accountable for their medical bills? (Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island laws may apply.)
No guesses, please. Only answer if you are reasonably sure. A solid source listed will get my vote for best answer.

I don't have an specific links for you,but the answer to your questions is No. A health care proxy is only for medical decisions. If the person isn't able to make a health care decision on their own due to their illness, then it is up to the health care proxy to make the decision. I have been the health care proxy for both my parents for many years. It is only for medical decisions and has nothing at all to do with financial responsibility.
no
No, you are acting in their behalf.
You are not commiting themself for their care.
